June 3rd

We began the day with breakfast of toast and COFFEE at our Albergue. Then we began our ascent of 400 meters to the highest point on the trail. It is marked by a pole with a little cross on top. There we met up with some walkers we had met earlier on the trail. Then we had the grueling decent of 800 meters!! Liz’s toes and my legs took a beating but it was worth it as the pathway was lined with bushes of various colors and the vistas were incredible. We stopped for lunch and had the best hamburger and salad. As we were eating, 7 people we had met walking joined us. As we talked we realized that some of us were staying at the same Albergue that night. We just had a meal here at the Albergue and ended the evening with several bottles of wine and singing. Liz started with a song in Italian, then the French group sang vera shaka, (are you sleeping), followed with a song in Chinese by a girl from Taiwan. And yes I sang “my aunt came back”. This is what the Camino is about. Sharing and meeting new friends. Keep us in your prayers as you are in mine.
