We left Palas de Rei in a brisk 45 degrees!! Since we are going 16.3 miles today with lots of ups and downs we sent our backpacks on ahead. We stopped for lunch in Melide which is known for its octopus, so of coarse I had to try it. Liz tasted it but didn’t like how chewy it was. I must admit I couldn’t eat the curly little pieces. (See picture). Our walk took us through some beautiful woods of oak, chestnut, eucalyptus and pine trees. The smells were amazing. It continues to amaze me how people are so willing to share here on the Camino. A girl we met last night learned of Lizzie’s problem with her heelcords. When we met her on the trail today she opened her pack and gave Liz two shoe inserts to help her tendonitis!! We are in Ribadiso at Albergue Milipas which is situated on the side of a hill. The views are stunning. We ate dinner with two sisters who are traveling with ones two sons. We met them several days ago. One is doing the Camino for the third time!! Keep us in your prayers as you are in mine.
Pictures won’t download so I will send them tomorrow.

Pictures leaving Palas de Rei

We left Portomarin with temperatures in the low 40’s but with continuous ups and downs we stayed warm. Liz is missing Sam as she stops to pet every dog and cat that will let her!! Today it was new born kittens that I literally had to drag her away from. Once we got into Palas de Rei, we met back up with old friends and met some new ones from Houston! It continues to amaze me how quickly bonds are formed on the walk. People are amazed at Lizzie’s maturity and truly enjoy her addition to the conversation. I am blessed to have this opportunity to grow with her. Tomorrow we are walking 16.3 miles but because of our various injuries, are having our packs sent ahead. Please keep us in your prayers as you are in mine.
